Our Story
Founded as a labor of love, The Vanguart was born from a deep commitment to champion African-American artistry in Oklahoma and beyond. After years of witnessing talented Black artists leave the state to find opportunities, we recognized the need for a platform that celebrates and supports their work right here at home.
In 2019, The Vanguart, LLC began creating spaces where diverse stories are told and the richness of Black culture is honored. From powerful theatrical productions to community programs and art education initiatives, The Vanguart Performing Arts Foundation is transforming the arts landscape in Oklahoma.
In 2024, we established The Vanguart Performing Arts Foundation, our non-profit arm, solidifying our mission to make a lasting impact in our community. Every step we take is a tribute: To Our Ancestors; For the Culture.
